It Isn’t Just “Dirt”

It Isn’t Just “Dirt”

It’s a daily occurrence that we have customers asking for “dirt”, and while we know what they mean when they call it that, our soil is so much more than just “dirt”. Dirt and soil are actually two different things, dirt is devoid of a living ecosystem while soil is “alive”. Soil is full of living organisms that truly help plants thrive. Since dirt doesn’t usually have any of these beneficial nutrients, you can’t really grow plants with it.

Soil is living, and there are more microorganisms in a handful of soil than there are people on earth. In organic matter rich soils, these organisms feed on plant tissues, which help to break them down and in turn allow the plants to absorb all the nutrients they need to survive.

At EasySoil, we have 3 types of soil. Each has a unique make-up which provides the best environment for specific projects. Let’s explore those together below!

Our TurfZone soil is used best on your lawn, as it has the perfect blend of sand and compost to create an environment that will have your lawn flourishing. TurfZone has a higher sand content so it can truly help with water runoff, making sure your lawn doesn’t get all kinds of mushy during the rainy seasons. Using our TurfZone is the best way to ensure your lawn is set up for success!

Next we have PlantZone, which is our premium planting blend. Again, using a delicate proportion of compost and sand, we developed a soil that helps trees and shrubs thrive. This particular soil meets and even exceeds British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association (BCLNA) standards, making it top quality for your gardens!

Last but certainly not least, we have our GroZone soil. This is the top dog when it comes to vegetable gardening and flower beds. This soil is high in beneficial organic matter, screened finely with a beautiful dark and rich colour. We know when you use this soil, your vegetables and plants will grow big and beautiful!

We hope this will prove useful when deciding which soil will be best for the job you’re working on. If you have any further questions, please email us at: info@easysoil.ca or give us a call at 1-604-200-5160.
